Perform the following steps to reset a forgotten Polycom administrator password:
- Reboot the phone
- When you see 'Starting applicaiton, press cancel to interrupt.", press cancel.
- Immediately press and hold the 1, 3 and 5 keys until "Enter password to reset settings" appears.
- Use the mac address as the password

I've had a few questions come up on how to cycle though the number pad to enter the alpha part of the mac address. Once you've completed the steps 1-3, you'll see three red tabs on the bottom of the phone. the one labeled 1->Aa is how you cycle through. Here are the definitions of each:
1->Aa: Numeric Entery
A->a1: Capital Letter Entry
a->1A: Lowercase Letter Entry
Entering alpha characters is just like old-school texting. If you want to type in a capital C, you'll need to change the mode to A->a1 then press the '2' key three times. Pausing about 3-5 seconds between letters.

what mac address do I use?
Use the MAC address of the phone you're resetting. It will be on the back of the phone, usually a large label with a barcode.
Jacob - instructions are great BUT.... how do I enter the alph-numeric MAC#? I've tried changing the keys to 1->Aa (numeric) and A->a1 and a->1A combinations and none work.
How can I enter Alpha charters in MAC address. I was unable to enter the Alphabets.can you please help me with this? Thanks in advance

One gotcha I encountered on the VVX400 was that using the MAC address as the admin password requires that any letters in the MAC address are entered in UPPER case.
